Koh Pha N'gan

When we woke up we found ourselves staying on a little beach outside Chalolkum on the north coast of Koh Pha N'gan. Our beach was separated from the main beach by a river channel which we had to wade through to get to town. We checked out the diving schools and hired a moped to explore the rest of the island. Our second day Hermann went diving at Sail Rock. Our original destination was Koh Tao but the high winds and waves meant we were diverted to a closer dive site. No snorkelling was possible, so I had to stay on the boat. Hermann saw loads of new fishies - big shoals of bat fish, huge groupers and a moray eel. There is also a little fish called a rabbit fish which you often see snorkelling. Hermann also swam down into a cave and then back up a big chimney. The next day, we decided the legs hadn't had enough exercise so we attempted to walk overland to Bottle Beach. Most people take a boat. After about half an hour the road ended and after another hour the path disappeared. We made our way back to the road and spent the rest of the day snorkelling at Coconut Beach. The tide was low so we were able to scramble over the rocks back to our bay which was a lot faster.
