Phi Phi Leh

The rest of our time on Koh Phi Phi was spent sea kayaking and snorkelling. We took a longtail boat trip around Koh Phi Phi and Phi Phi Leh. Our snorkelling stops ranged from clear turquoise water to rough grey seas depending on the wind. Later in the afternoon we crossed the bay to Phi Phi Leh which was very rough. We explored the main enclosed bay which was beautiful and then rounded a headland to get to the entrance of Maya Beach. The boats couldn't get round the island to approach the beach because of the monsoon winds. Instead they dropped us into a raging torrent, where we had to swim to a sheer cliff and then scramble through a small hole to the other side of the island. Luckily there was a wee man with a rope making sure that no-one was too severely impaled on any big pointy rocks. We survived, went for one small dip on the other side, then made our way back through the big hole, flinging ourselves back into the sea with a big wave to ensure knee caps remained intact.
