Georgetown

Georgetown is on the island of Penang in north western Malaysia. We arrived quite late and ended up staying in a really old chinese house - emphasis was very much on faded grandeur, however, they did do a very good pancake.

We spent a couple of days pottering around the old town. There is an old english fort, loads of colonial architecture and a fantastic China Town. Despite not being able to find Auntie Sim for a spot of fortune telling, Hermann did find an old fashioned barber to give him the longest haircut in living memory. It took about an hour - we didn't realise Hermann was that hairy. It was a work of art!

We also visited the Cheong Fatt Tze mansion for a lesson in feng shui. It was gorgeous - a mix of chinese and western architecture.
